Travelling with your pet to and from the UAE
Bringing a pet in or out of the UAE involves more paperwork than most countries. Here's the checklist.
To enter the UAE
- MOCCAE import permit (apply 7โ10 days before travel).
- Rabies titre test (FAVN) โ required for some origin countries.
- Microchip (ISO 11784/11785 compatible).
- International health certificate from a USDA-/equivalent-accredited vet, dated within 10 days.
- Vaccination records in English.
To leave the UAE
Your destination country sets the rules. EU has rabies + parasite treatment requirements. UK requires the EU pet passport process. North America accepts standard rabies + vet certificate.
Cabin vs cargo
Emirates allows in-cabin for dogs under ~8kg in carriers. Larger dogs travel in temperature-controlled cargo. Choose direct flights โ connections multiply stress.
