Local rules to check in Australia
OnlyPaw verifies your identity, service documents and knowledge test. Separately, paid pet care in Australia may involve local registrations or permits such as:
- Australian photo ID (Driver Licence, Proof of Age card, or Passport)
- Working with Children Check (WWCC) where you enter homes with minors present
- National Police Check
- ABN for GST reporting (register once revenue > A$75,000)
- Home boarding: council registration under state Domestic Animals Act (varies by state)
You'll be a sole trader — you need an ABN and must lodge income via your annual tax return. Home boarding in NSW / VIC / QLD requires a council permit; commercial boarding kennels need a POCTA (Prevention of Cruelty to Animals) licence.
These are general pointers, not legal advice — rules change, so confirm them with the relevant authorities before you start.
