Local rules to check in Canada
OnlyPaw verifies your identity, service documents and knowledge test. Separately, paid pet care in Canada may involve local registrations or permits such as:
- Government-issued photo ID (Provincial ID or Passport)
- SIN for CRA T4A reporting
- Criminal Record Check (RCMP or provincial equivalent)
- Proof of Canadian address
- Optional: municipal dog walker / kennel licence (Toronto, Calgary, Vancouver require these for commercial-scale)
You'll receive a T4A slip for CRA and are responsible for reporting self-employment income. GST/HST registration required once you exceed C$30,000/year. Some cities (Toronto Municipal Code Ch. 349) cap simultaneous dogs walked at 6.
These are general pointers, not legal advice — rules change, so confirm them with the relevant authorities before you start.
