Local rules to check in the United States
OnlyPaw verifies your identity, service documents and knowledge test. Separately, paid pet care in the United States may involve local registrations or permits such as:
- Government-issued photo ID (Driver's License, State ID, or Passport)
- SSN or ITIN for 1099-NEC tax reporting
- Pass a background check (US Criminal Records — MVR for pet taxi)
- Proof of address in the US
- Optional but recommended: commercial pet-services liability insurance from an independent broker
Providers are treated as independent contractors (1099-NEC) — you're responsible for filing your own taxes and any required city/state business license (some cities like Denver require a home-occupation permit).
These are general pointers, not legal advice — rules change, so confirm them with the relevant authorities before you start.
